In 2009, Missy made a huge change: she transferred to the Nugent School of Irish Dance.   Her transfer paperwork was mailed on January 10, so she was banned from competitive dancing until after July 10.  Because of the way the competition year falls, her ban effectively stretched from her last Feis in 2008 (10-11-08) to her first Feis in 2000 (8-1-2009) she was only able to attend three Feisianna in 2009, of which two were in the 2009 season and one in 2010.

Because 2009 was basically a write off, I am combining the 2009-2010 results on this page.  Beginning in 2010, she is again performing a Traditional Set Dance as she has been taught a new one at Nugent.  She competed in the Traditional Set at Oireachtas 2009 in Columbus, where she was one of 80 competitors.  She finished 39th.  (Not bad, considering she'd only just learned the set and had never competed in it before!)

In the 2010 season (which runs from 10/1/2009 thru 9/30-2010) she will hopefully only be competing in Feisianna we can reach in a day trip because we just can't afford the travel and hotel expenses. Later in the season if she needs it to qualify, we may hit one or two that will require an overnight, but we're hoping to not need to!  Our most logical choice for such an add-in would be the An Samhra Feis in St. Louis on July 24.

I would really love to be able to attend the Baltimore Feis in September -- it's out of region so it wouldn't count for Oireachtas qualification, but the Feis is near where my best friend lives so we wouldn't need a hotel & we'd get to see Jeanette & her family! Plus Missy absolutely LOVES that Feis. Another one she loves is the Pat Roche Feis in Chicago.  It's held the same weekend as Gem City, which is a local Feis.  If something happens later in the year where we can afford the extra expense, however, she will be attending the Pat Roche Feis rather than Gem City in October.

Here's the official NAFC map of the North American (US only) Feis Regions.   Anything in the green (Mid-America) or blue (Mid-Atlantic) counts as our region.
